An independent field notebook
Showwondergadget is an informative editorial website about automated airport baggage systems. We write for technically curious travellers and operations readers who want a clear explanation without assuming that every airport uses the same equipment.
We are not an airline, airport, equipment manufacturer, regulator or baggage recovery service. We are not affiliated with the organisations linked in our fieldnotes. Mentioning a product category, standard or supplier is not an endorsement.
Three kinds of evidence
- Standards and industry guidance
- These explain terminology, obligations or recommended practices. Their scope matters: a tracking requirement is not proof of a specific airport’s performance.
- Equipment documentation
- Manufacturer material can explain a mechanism and its intended capability. We do not treat a nominal specification as an independently verified operational result.
- Deployment-specific evidence
- A claim about a named installation needs evidence tied to that installation, its operating conditions and the period being described. A generic photograph cannot provide that evidence.
A useful explanation says where its confidence ends.
How to read our diagrams and photographs
Our routes and HTML annotations are conceptual teaching aids. They show relationships between identification, transport and decisions, not an engineering drawing or an airport’s restricted layout. Equipment close-ups illustrate a mechanism and should not be used to infer a photographed location’s software, security procedures or supplier.
Where local procedures or regulations matter, we point readers back to the responsible authority or operator. Nothing here is permission to access machinery, alter controls or enter a restricted area.

Corrections and useful challenges
If a mechanism is described incorrectly, tell us which page and passage you mean and provide a public source where possible. If a statement needs a narrower scope, explain the boundary: equipment model, deployment, bag mix or operational condition. We review substantive corrections and aim to make the revised explanation clearer, rather than simply changing a headline.
Do not send confidential airport plans, security-sensitive instructions or passenger records. A publicly shareable technical explanation is more useful to this publication.
